MP 280/17 Head of Studio (Animation Studio)

We are excited to release a number of roles for our client working within Animation and the Creative Arts. In this recruitment wave we are seeking a Head of Studio.

Role Profile:
- The Head of Studio will be an excellent communicator and manager capable of working with, leading and supporting the creative, production and management teams
- Will be responsible for and capable of scheduling and budgeting all aspects of animation content, across multiple series including CGI, digital 2D, stop frame puppet, multimedia for development, long form series, apps and games
- In collaboration with the relevant producer and heads of productions, create new budgets and schedule assumptions/bids for potential new work either in house or for clients
- Will manage and ensure deadlines and schedules are adhered to
- Will be responsible for projects staying within the allocated budgets
- Will work closely with the management and production teams to contribute and help the studio achieve its aspirations and find creative solutions to challenges
- Will be an excellent and versatile all-rounder who can produce a project through from originating ideas to final delivery
- To assure “Best Practice” at all times
- Will hold regular “Development / Production” meetings and communicate fully with the crew, production office and management
- Will ensure that all communication within the studio is efficient and appropriate
- Will be a point of contact with senior management, clients and relevant stakeholders
- In conjunction with the finance department produce appropriate reporting to ensure all management and relevant parties are kept up to date
- Will be responsible for studio, development and production resources
- Will be required to travel internationally to consult with overseas production companies and represent the studio
- Will be part of the interview process as we build up the teams
- Will be responsible for managing the studio
- In conjunction with the legal and finance departments supervise contracts, payments, visas
- Will help facilitate training of new and inexperienced employees to prepare them for productive production roles and for the studio as a whole as new technology and techniques are introduced as necessary
- Will work closely with marketing and the commercial team
- Will encourage exploration in new technology and innovative ways to enhance their animated content

Person Profile:
- Must be capable of creating and managing schedules and budgets for 2D, CGI, Stop Frame Puppet and Multi Media projects ranging from development to long form animated series
- Must possess the required skills to ensure quality control in all aspects of production
- Proven credits as a Series Producer, Exec Producer or Head of Production on multiple series for Children
- Must be versatile and have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of animated production pipelines, including, 2D, CGI, stop frame and multimedia
- Experience in working with a variety of clients including British Broadcasters and overseas companies producing kids animated CGI and 2D series is essential
- experience managing animated projects that have been produced both in house and overseas such as China, India, Europe etc. This also is essential
- Must have achieved multiple commissions by global broadcasters
- Must have excellent communication and leadership skills
- Must have excellent knowledge of all production and post production techniques
- Must be open to experimentation, new ideas and media
- Have strong management skills and be able to clearly brief and support the creative and production staff
- Be prepared to organise training schemes
- Must be prepared to work in-house out of their studios on the Isle of Man
